We Will Discuss AI and Ethics!

Since AI is all the rage these days, we will also discuss the use of AI! Not just where it makes sense and how it can be used in a positive way but also briefly discuss how it actually works AND the ethical dilemma that it comes with!

Currently, the plan is to use AI as a tool to help us with brainstorming ideas and coding but minimize its use in art creation. In the game dev world, all AI art is frowned upon for final product work. This is due largely to the way the data sets were created, by scraping websites, including copyrighted works, without permission. While most believe this is legal, few believe it is ethical.

We will be using AI for some rapid code generation but we'll go over any code created by AI so everyone understands what it is doing. I will also have a special AI session setup with extra context information to make sure we're generated simple, easy to read code snippets.

There are a LOT of mixed feelings around AI out there. As of a March survey, more than 84% of companies were using AI in some manner so I think it is important to not just avoid it but rather educate kids on it and teach them to use it as a tool to help them learn.
